Since birth, we are introduced to various sets of truths, to systems that have existed for thousands of years. These systems give the impression of being correct and complete. We rely on them and, often involuntarily, adopt them as reference points, especially when they are endorsed by authority, history, or the sheer number of people involved. Systems in which one simply follows instructions provide an immense sense of comfort and safety — no one has to think for themselves, no one questions or discovers things independently. It's much easier to follow.
